Hippocrates Tree

Sycamore trees (plane trees) are called Hippocrates trees, from the legend that the great doctor Hippocrates taught medicine in the shade of a tree. This tree is known as a symbol of medical universities, but the sycamore tree here at Fukushima Medical University comes from Kos Island in Greece, the origin spot for this legend.
