Purpose of the Survey Due to the nuclear power plant accident, many residents were forced to evacuate immediately, especially those who lived in areas that were later designated as evacuation zones. Their lifestyles, such as their diet or exercise routines, have changed completely. Moreover, there are increasing health concerns because they were unable to receive their usual health checkups. For improving the health management situation of these residents, preventing lifestyle-related diseases, and early diagnoses and treatments, we must concentrate not only on the effects of radiation but also on the overall health condition of the residents. Hence, we began conducting health checkups for residents in evacuation zones.2. Implementation Schedule(1)SubjectsThose registered as residents of areas designated as evacuation zones, planned evacuation zones, emergency evacuation preparation zones, and specific areas recommended for evacuation (hereafter also “evacuation zones”) on March 11, 2011, as well as those requiring health checkups based on the survey results.[Evacuation Zone]All areas of Tamura, Minamisoma, Kawamata, Hirono, Naraha, Tomioka, Kawauchi, Okuma, Futaba, Namie, Katsurao, Iitate, and a part of Date (specific areas recommended for evacuation). Implementation Status of the Health Checkup (1) Implementation system We developed the implementation system for the health checkup utilizing the existing system, such as the special health checkup, in light of the fact that many residents in evacuation zones have moved to areas within and outside of Fukushima Prefecture.
