261chap.VConveying to PosterityFUKUSHIMA: Lives on the Line[Purpose of the Survey]In response to the radioactive contamination due to the nuclear accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, we are currently implementing the Fukushima Health Management Survey. The survey targets all residents of Fukushima Prefecture to monitor, ensure, and promote the long-term health and safety of the residents.Through the health management survey, we intend to safeguard the long-term health of Fukushima residents by conducting continuous tests and checkups for early diagnoses and treatments of health hazards. In addition, we aim at organizing research, education, and medical support systems.[Promotion System]We are promoting this survey in collaboration with Fukushima Prefecture, under the guidance and advice provided by Fukushima Health Management Survey’s review committee, comprising experts in radiation exposure and management.
