本学会は、医学の進歩・発展に寄与するとともにその普及を図ることを目的として1951年（昭和26年）に設立されました。活動の中心として「機関誌の発行」「福島医学会賞の表彰」「学術研究集会」などの事業を行っております。
機関誌（Fukushima Journal of Medical Science）はMEDLINEにも掲載され国際的に認知されたJournal となっております。
また、福島医学会賞は平成元年に発足して以来、現在までに97名と4団体の方々が受賞されており、受賞された方々はいずれも現在第一線で活躍をしておられます。

The Fukushima Society of Medical Science was established in 1951 with the purpose of contributing to the advancement and development of medical science and healthcare, and to extend their reach. The main activities of the society are issuance of a journal, commendation of the Fukushima Society of Medical Science Award, and holding academic research conferences.
The society's journal Fukushima Journal of Medicine Science is also posted on MEDLINE and is internationally recognized.
Since the Fukushima Society of Medical Science Award were first launched in 1989, 97 people and 4 organizations have received the award, all of whom are currently active at the forefront of medicine.
